Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana | Account Can Be Opened In Any Bank Branch Or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitr) Outlet, Accounts Opened Under PMJDY Are Being Opened With Zero Balance. However, If The Account – Holder Wishes To Get Cheque Book, He / She Will Have To Fulfill Minimum Balance Criteria.

RBI Vide Its Press Release Dates 26/08/2014, Has Further Clarified That Those Persons Who Do Not Have Any Of The “Officially Valid Documents” Can Open “Small Accounts” With Banks. A “Small Account” Can Be Opened On The Basis Of A Self-Attested Photograph and Putting His / Her Sign Or Thumb Print In The Presence Of Officials Of The Bank. Such Accounts Have Limitations Regarding The Aggregate Credits (Not More Than Rs One Lakh In A Year). Aggregate Withdrawals (Not More Than Rs Ten Thousand In A Month) and Balance In The Accounts (Not More Than Rs Fifty Thousand At Any Point Of Time). These AC Would Be Allowed To Continue For A Further Period Of Twelve More Months, If The AC Holder Provides A Documents Showing That He / She Has Applied For any Of The Officially Valid Docs, Within 12 Month Of Opening The Small AC.

38.57 Crore Beneficiaries Banked So Far 135,883.95 Crore Balance In Beneficiary AC 1.26 Lakh Bank Mitras Delivering Branchless Banking Services In Sub Service Areas
Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana (PMJDY) Under The National Mission For Financial Inclusion Was Launched Initially For A Period Of 4 Years (In Two Phases) On 28/08/2014. It Envisages Universal Access To Banking Facilities With At Least One Basis Banking Account For Every Household, Financial Literacy, Access To Credit, Insurance and Pension.
PMJDY Has Provided A Platform For The Three Social Security Yojana Viz. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PrMJJBY). Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) & Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).
The Govt Has Decided To Extend The Comprehensive PMJDY Program Beyond 28-08-2018 With The Change In Focus On Opening AC From Every Household To Every Adult With Following Modification.
- Exiting Overdraft (OD) Limit Of Rupees 5,000 Revised To Rupees 10,000.
- No Conditions Attached For Active PMJDY AC Availing Overdraft Upto Rupees 2,000.
- Age Limit For Availing Overdraft Facility Revised From 18 Year To 60 Years To 18 Year To 65 Years.
The Accidental Insurance Cover For New Rupay Card Holder Raised From Existing Rupees One Lakh To Two Lakh To New “Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana Accounts” Opened After 28/08/2018. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).
